Kitchen Remodel in Cave Creek, AZ; A Year in the Making!

I received an email today from the couple that this kitchen remodel belongs to. They wanted to know if I remembered that we met for the first time a year ago when I went to their home for their free in home consultation. My first response was a year….no…oh…already! Wow, I know time flies when you are having fun but I know we just finished this job in October. There are many different reasons that a project might not be completed immediately and this one was all down to planning. When we met in April of last year one of the things we discussed was that they were headed back up north soon and wanted to get everything set up and ready to be completed when they returned to Arizona the first part of October.

At the first in home consultation we took measurements of the kitchen as well as the garage and laundry room area that would soon become part of the pantry. We discussed what they wanted to do with the kitchen as well as setting the homeowners up with Marazzi Tile to give them a chance to determine what kind of tile they wanted before they headed out of town.

Very shortly after our meeting they headed north and the emails and phone calls started flying back and forth. The floor plan changed a few times, and cabinets were moved and reorganized by the homeowner and our staff more than once. Walls moved, laminate morphed into granite, and cream colored painted cabinets stripped to a Cherryvale stain.

Fast forward to October, not sure who was more excited for their return, and the work commenced. This project started with the demolition of existing cabinetry, flooring, countertops and two walls.

Order that the Kitchen Remodel Progressed

After the demolition was completed it was time to frame and drywall the pantry closet. Once that was completed the new porcelain tile flooring was ready to be installed and a Glidden paint in Haystack, yellow, applied to the walls. After the paint dried and the porcelain tile floor set it was time to start installing the cabinets. The homeowner chose a Cherryvale stain on a Classic Farmington style cabinet. As soon as the last base cabinet was set the granite fabricator was there to measure and create a custom template. This is done so that the finished product fits perfectly and takes into account how the walls conform to the cabinets. The granite countertops take three to five days to be completed once the measurements and template is created. This particular kitchen took four days. The work did not stop at that point however; There was still upper cabinets to install, baseboard for the walls, crown molding, a door to frame and hang and new lighting over the island to install.
